Before using any tool, always observe the image critically. Look for inconsistencies—like pine trees in an alleged Amazon rainforest fire—and question emotional triggers. These details often reveal manipulation or miscontextualization.

Google Lens is a game-changer. You can use it directly in Chrome by right-clicking on an image and selecting “Search with Google Lens.” This allows you to identify the original source of an image or parts of it. For instance, you can highlight just one detail, like a crying monkey, and quickly trace its true origin—sometimes disproving claims, such as a photo’s supposed link to the Amazon when it actually relates to an event in India.

Beyond images, Lens extracts text, translates it instantly, and helps fact-check visual elements in paused videos. For example, you can investigate a frame of a viral clip for authenticity or additional context.
